Since 1 February 2013, the Council has automatically enrolled new employees into a relevant pension scheme i.e. the Local Government Pension Scheme or the Teachers’ Pension Scheme every pay period . The Government introduced Auto Enrolment in October 2012. Under the Auto Enrolment law all Employers must offer eligible employees with some form of pension benefit. The Government also introduced a statutory default scheme known as the National Employment Savings Trust (NEST) - to support the Auto Enrolment process.
