The Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) is available to all non-teaching employees working for Local Government. Plus, there are other selected employers that have chosen to join the LGPS, and you can join the Scheme if nominated by your employer. Here is a List of Employer’s (PDF) who are members of Cardiff and Vale of Glamorgan Pension Fund.
You will join the Scheme automatically if you start a new job:
- where you are eligible for membership of the LGPS
- with a contract of employment of 3 months or more
- if you are under age 75
However, if your employment contract is for less than 3 months, you will not join the Scheme automatically, but you do have the option to join.
